The Greif Brewery (also Brauerei Josef Greif or Greif-Bräu ) is one of four breweries located in the Upper Franconian town of Forchheim and was founded in 1848. The annual output is around 13,000 hectoliters.
history
The brewery was founded in the so-called Kapuzinerwirt at Sattlertorstraße 18 in Forchheim. The first brewers were Johann Neuner, Georg Wagner and Johann Wagner. The brewery has been family-owned since it was taken over by Daniel Greif . His grandson and namesake of the company, Josef Greif, bought the Schindler brewery's ice cellar in 1928 . In 1950 the Greif brewery moved to its current location at Serlbacher Strasse 10. In 1953, a new building was put into operation, and in the 1990s a new brewhouse, fermentation cellar, storage cellar and warehouse.
range
The product range includes the beer types Greif Bock, Hopfstar, Zwickl, Bernstein, Schlöbberla (semi-dark full beer), Lager, Edelpils, Weisse Dunkel, Hell, Weisse Hefeweizen Hell, Leicht, Capitulare and Radler, seasonal Annafestbier and Christmasfestbier. It is filled in crown cork bottles .
Only raw materials from the region are used for all beers.

- Frankfurt International Trophy: three times Grand Gold, once gold, once silver
