Breach was a Swedish sludge and hardcore punk band.
history
The band was founded in Luleå in 1993 and released their first album in 1995, and several EPs were released during the same period. Fireside's Pelle Gunnerfeldt produced several of the band's albums. Shortly after the release of their fourth album, Kollapse 2002, the group announced their breakup.
On December 6, 2007 the band played another concert, which ended with the band members destroying all of their instruments. This fueled speculation among fans that this would be the band's last show. Tomas Turunen's drum finale was described by Swedish journalist Per Bjurman as "one of the best drum performances in his life so far".
style
Breach started out as a metal-influenced hardcore band. From the second album onwards the sound became darker and the production harsher and rawer than in later post-hardcore bands; influences from hardcore punk, post rock , crustcore and black / thrash metal were taken on. The band combines fast, metallic parts with atmospheric and, on collapse , undistorted guitar runs.
