The BREBAU (proper spelling BREBAU) is a housing association in Bremen . After GEWOBA , it is the second largest housing association based in Bremen. In 2019, Bremer Verkehrs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH held 60% and Brebau 40% of the share capital.
history
In 1938 the Bremische Bau- und Siedlungsgesellschaft mbH (Brebau) was founded as a non-profit housing construction company. After the Second World War, the primary purpose of Brebau was to provide housing for socially needy groups and to build affordable homes. Around 7,300 own and third-party rental apartments, mostly made of clinker brick, in 18 districts for around 20,000 Bremen citizens have been created by the company since then.
The company has had its domicile in Parkallee since 1955 . In 1989 the company lost its non-profit status and a reorientation followed towards projects that were more oriented towards the real estate market.
Due to the crisis at BLB, their shares in Brebau were also up for debate in mid-2016. If Nord LB should take over parts of BLB, they would also have more influence on large U projects, for example in Bremen's Überseestadt , Radio Bremen analyzed .
In 1998 the company moved into a new building on the Schlachte directly on the Weser.
