NGC 6189 = NGC 6191 is a 12.6 mag bright bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Dragon . It is estimated to be 260 million light years from the Milky Way and about 140,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered by Lewis A. Swift on August 3, 1885 . Due to Swift's unclear description, his observation by NGC 6191 on July 6, 1886 is also assigned to this galaxy.
