Primeval forest in the Brecca Gorge

The Breccaschlund is a legendary karst plain above the Schwarzsee in the Swiss canton of Friborg .

The area was created by glaciers during the last ice age. Despite alpine dairies and its popularity with hikers, the primeval landscape is still home to a multitude of alpine flowers and animals.

Around the Breccaschlund are the mountain peaks of: Spitzflue ( 1954  m above sea level ), Fochsenflue ( 1975  m above sea level ), Chörblispitz ( 2103  m above sea level ), Combigabel ( 1928  m above sea level ), Combiflue ( 2055  m above sea level ), Schopfenspitz ( 2104  m above sea level ), Pointe de Balachaux ( 1976  m above sea level ), Patraflon ( 1916  m above sea level ) and Pointe de Bremingard ( 1923  m above sea level) M. ).

The Breccaschlund can be reached by car or public transport, then a good hour's walk from Schwarzsee (or by cable car Schwarzsee-Riggisalp).
