Brecht Forum

The Brecht Forum is a  Marxist- oriented educational and cultural center in Brooklyn , New York, named after the German poet Bertolt Brecht . Over the years the forum has offered a wide range of courses, lectures and seminars, exhibitions, workshops and language courses.

history

The forum was founded in 1975 by activists from the civil rights movement, the trade unions and the student movement. In 2004 it moved to 451 West Street, New York City , formerly the address of Serge Gym. Today it is located in Brooklyn at 338 Atlantic Avenue. A large number of events take place every year, including the laboratory of the Theater of the Oppressed , the Institute for Popular Education and the broadcast episodes of the "New Cabaret". The Brecht Forum is a meeting place for communication and art exhibitions.

A Financial Crisis Discussion Forum was set up on October 6, 2008, and included Naomi Klein , Arun Gupta, Frances Fox Piven , William Greider, and Doug Henwood.
