The Federal Association for Sustainability is a German non-governmental organization (NGO) at national level in the legal form of a registered association. The seat of the federal association is Berlin . It is entered in the public list of the registration of associations and their representatives . The Federal Association for Sustainability is the only NGO in Europe with a holistic and also extended approach with regard to sustainable development.

purpose

The Federal Association for Sustainability represents the common ideational interests of its members in all sustainability-related issues, promotes cooperation between its members and supports them in fulfilling their tasks. The federal association advocates the interests of its members vis-à-vis the legislative bodies of the federal and state governments, the supervisory and regulatory authorities at national and international level as well as the media and the public. It is accredited by the German Bundestag and the Transparency Register of the European Commission .

goals and tasks

The Federal Association for Sustainability regards holism as the key to sustainability. In this sense, she has u. a. The aim is to integrate this as a decisive point of view into legislative and planning processes and to establish sustainability as a national goal. Her main task is the civil society, complementary support of development processes in government organizations with regard to sustainability strategies. This also includes strategies with regard to climate protection / climate change. In addition, the federal association works on the application-oriented implementation of the sustainable development goals of the UN in business, society, politics and administration. Your projects are based on this and are carried out together with public funding agencies, business and civil society initiatives.

Sustainability award

Once a year on April 25, the general assembly selects the winners from the nominations for the “Federal Sustainability Award”. These include initiatives, organizations, companies and individuals who are involved in promoting a “sustainable, equilibrium, fair world” within the existing system. The prize mainly takes up new, innovative developments, is undoped and an honorary prize for particularly sustainable actions. The prize is awarded in the five categories of society, politics, administration, business and (from 2019) Vorsprung: Jugend. The first award ceremony took place in 2015.
