The Breiðárlón is a glacial lake at the south end of the Icelandic glacier Vatnajökull .
It is located below the Breiðamerkurjökull , a valley glacier of Vatnajökull. The lake is located in the municipality of Hornafjörður .
In addition, the Breiðárlón is not far from the Skaftafell National Park and west of the more famous Jökulsárlón lake on the Breiðamerkulsander . Its waters flow in the form of the Breiðá river into the neighboring Fjallsárlón .
