Lists on the subject |
The Bren Ten is a semi-automatic pistol whose development was based on the Česká zbrojovka ČZ 75 pistol .
description
The Bren Ten is a semi-automatic pistol, the technology of which is derived from the CZ 75 model . Jeff Cooper developed this pistol in parallel with the 10 mm auto ammunition that was matched to it . This combination should set a new standard in pistol development in terms of penetration and precision. Dornaus & Dixon produced and sold this pistol in several variants. The Bren Ten was only produced in a small edition because the manufacturer had problems with production and could not serve the market. The subsequent attempt by Perigrine Industries failed due to financial failure, and production was therefore stopped again. A total of approx. 1500 pieces were produced.
The Bren Ten has been considered controversial. Many enthusiasts still consider it to be the best pistol of its era with its 10mm auto caliber. However, the quality of the weapons was poor. Many of the pistols were delivered with faulty or even missing magazines. The stainless steel magazines were very difficult to get and cost $ 100 each. The extreme pressures created by the 10 mm auto ammunition caused considerable damage to the pistol itself, for example material fatigue on the slide.
Trivia
In the first two seasons (excluding the pilot) of the crime series Miami Vice , Don Johnson used a Bren Ten as Det. Sonny Crockett, which made the weapon known to a wide audience.
