Brenner is an impact crater to the south of the lunar front , northwest of Fabricius crater and west of Metius . The crater is heavily eroded and the south-eastern rim is overlaid by the large Brenner A secondary crater .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after Leo Brenner, pseudonym of the Austrian writer and astronomer Spiridon Gopčević .
