Brian Lima (born January 25, 1972 in Apia ) is a former Samoan rugby union player. He played in the outer three-quarters position and later in his career as an inner three-quarters . Because of his tough tackles he is called "The Chiropractor". Considered the best Samoan player of all time, he is the only player to have participated in five world championships.
Career
Lima made his debut for Samoa in 1990 and was part of the team that beat the favored Welsh at the 1991 World Championships . Lima was the youngest player in the tournament at this event.
Lima made his most impressive performance in the preliminary round of the 2003 World Cup against the South African Springboks . When the South African connector Derick Hougaard intercepted a pass and tried to control the ball, Lima tackled it so hard and precisely that although he was able to get up again after a one-minute break in treatment and continue playing, he looked extremely battered for the next few minutes and only slowly got back into his game.
Following the World Cup, he moved to Japan. After a charity game for the victims of the 2004 tsunami and two missions for the Pacific Islanders team , he went to Munster in the Celtic League . Due to injuries, however, he did not come to a single use and tried his luck in Bristol , where he also ended his club career. He had previously played in New Zealand, for the Blues and the Highlanders , and in France for the Stade Français . He won the Super 12 title with the Blues, the French with Stade Français and the Welsh championship with the Swansea RFC .
In the run-up to the 2007 World Cup , Lima announced that he would end his career after the tournament. He played his last international match for Samoa against England in the preliminary round, in which Samoa was eliminated from fourth in the group.
