Plasticant

Plasticant is a plastic construction kit system . It consists of colored, tubular individual elements that are connected by means of yellow plastic dowels . There are also red, yellow and white surface elements in various sizes as well as wheels, cogwheels and toothed worms . As with the similar Lego or Fischertechnik systems, complex models can be built from simple plastic parts. Plasticant was designed as a technical kit, but was sold as a toy.

The Hungarian Jenö Paksy invented the system and applied for a patent on November 18, 1958. Plasticant was first manufactured by the Franken Plastik company in Fürth . In 1972 the manufacturing rights were sold to Milton Bradley . There the colors of the components were changed: light blue became dark blue, and the new colors red, yellow and silver were added. In addition, other wheels, building blocks and additional accessories such as B. cabs and shovels for excavators, etc. manufactured.

In 1974 production was stopped. In Germany, the successor product Plasticant-Mobilo is available in stores. Since 2008 the toy has been manufactured by a Hungarian company under the product name JÁVA. The Franken Plastik company still exists today (2013), but no longer builds toys.
