description
There may have been an older bridge a few meters downstream. Construction of the Bridge of Isla began on June 4, 1794 and was completed on August 18, 1796. This is evident from an inscription on an embedded plate.
The masonry viaduct spans the Isla a short distance before it flows into the Tay with five lined segmental arches . Its masonry consists of rubble, roughly hewn into cuboids , which was built into layered masonry . Pointed icebreakers emerge from the pillars . The Bridge of Isla now leads the A93 ( Perth - Aberdeen ) over the Isla.
