Brigitta Westphal
Brigitta Westphal (* 1944 in Burgoberbach , Middle Franconia ) is a German painter .
Life
The artist, who grew up in Franconia , lived for a long time in the Frankfurt am Main area. In the past few years her center of life changed between her Franconian homeland and southern Tuscany .
Brigitta Westphal's work focuses on people and nature; the biographical component plays a major role in this.
"Brigitta Westphal's oil paintings, mixed media and etchings are mysteries of color, shape and structure, surrealistic images of the borderless floating between waking and dreaming"
The encounter with Robert Musil's main work “ The Man Without Qualities ” became a key experience for the painter. The close relationship with this poet resulted in two cycles with 14 oil paintings each. Since 1986, translating literature into painting has been an important part of her work. Breaks that appear between the work phases arise from frequently changing living and working places in Germany and Italy.
