Brigitte Gropper

Brigitte Gropper (born June 18, 1960 ) is an Austrian table tennis player . She took part in world championships three times.

Career

Brigitte Gropper was Austrian national champion in singles three times in a row from 1977 to 1979 . There are also three titles in doubles and two in mixed. From 1976 to 1986 she took part in three world championships ( 1977 , 1979 , 1981 ) and several times in European championships ( 1976 , 1986 ). It did not come close to medal ranks.

Brigitte Gropper first played for the Vienna club UKJ Tyrolia, later for Schwechat. For many years she has played for the Viennese association WAT Leistungszentrum or WAT Mariahilf (WAT means "Wiener Arbeiter Turn- u Sportverein").

After 1986 she stopped performing internationally. Later she was active and successful in senior tournaments. After 2000, she was often Austrian senior champion in singles, doubles and mixed. Her greatest success was the second place in the singles at the Senior European Championships 2001 in Aarhus, where she was defeated in the final by the Hungarian Edit Urbán . Gropper is still one of the strongest women in Vienna. With the men (where women are allowed to play) she is very successful in one of the highest divisions.
