Brigitte Tegischer

Brigitte Tegischer (born February 10, 1960 in Lienz ) is an Austrian social worker and former politician ( SPÖ ). Tegischer was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1996 and 1999 .

education and profession

Tegischer attended elementary school from 1966 to 1970 and then from 1970 a grammar school, before switching to a music-pedagogical secondary school in 1974 and graduating from there in 1978. She then graduated from the Social Academy from 1978 to 1980 and studied education and psychology between 1980 and 1984.

Tegischer became director of the open youth center in Lienz in 1985 and is its chairwoman. From 1989 to 1992 she also worked as a trainer at the vocational training institute and in 1992 took over the socio-educational management of the socio-economic company Schindel & Holz.

politics

Tegischer was a substitute member of the Lienz municipal council from 1992 and represented the SPÖ in the National Council from January 15, 1996 to October 28, 1999. She was thus the first female SPÖ national councilor from the Lienz district and held the function of youth spokeswoman for the SPÖ parliamentary club. During her time as National Councilor, Tegischer also voted with the Greens and Liberals and opposed the rapprochement between the SPÖ and the FPÖ. After the end of her political career, Tegischer returned to her job as a social worker at Schindel & Holz.
