Helga Machne

Helga Machne (born August 30, 1938 in Lienz ) is a former Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and a former member of the National Council .

education and profession

Helga Machne attended elementary, secondary and commercial school and then graduated from hotel management school.

Machne worked professionally as a hotel specialist, accountant, secretary, ski instructor and manager.

politics

Helga Machne was a member of the Lienz municipal council from 1986 and a city councilor from 1992. Between 1994 and 2003 she was also mayor of Lienz and thus the first woman mayor of Tyrol. Within the party, Machne held the function of regional party chairman of the ÖVP Tirol and was a member of the regional management of the Austrian Economic Association in Tyrol. She was a member of the main committee of the Austrian Association of Towns and chairwoman of the social and health district in Lienz. From 2002 Machne also worked as a member of the Committee of the Regions of the EU in Brussels. Machne represented the ÖVP in the National Council between December 20, 2002 and October 29, 2006.

The award of honorary citizenship of the city of Lienz on her 70th birthday failed because the Lienz municipal council could not reach a unanimous vote on the award.

In 2010 Machne received the Tyrolean Decoration of Honor .

Private

Machne is married to an architect and has three children.
