Brigt Rykkje

Johan Ingebrigt (Brigt) Rykkje (born June 16, 1975 in Bergen ) is a Norwegian-Dutch speed skater .

Brigt Rykkje's father is Norwegian and his mother is Dutch. The first years he grew up in Norway, in 1980 the family went to the Netherlands. He started ice skating at the IJsclub Haarlem ice skating club. In December 1996, the specialist for long distances - especially the 10,000 meters - made his debut in the Hamar World Cup . He quickly established himself and was in the top 10 (8th) for the first time in Innsbruck in January 1998 . In November of the same year he won his first world cup over 5000 meters in Hamar. In the meantime he had changed his nationality and was now starting for Norway. For Norway he also competed in the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano over the 1500 meters (29th). However, in 1999 he changed his nationality again and went back to the Netherlands. He was once Norwegian and Dutch runner-up and twice third in the national championships.
