The white-faced ibis ( Plegadis chihi ) is in America beheimateter, monotypic Ibis . The stock situation of the spectacled ibis was classified in the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN as not at risk ( least concern ) in 2016 .
External features
The spectacled ibis is very similar to the brown ibis and reaches a body length of 58 centimeters. The predominantly dark bird with the typical ibis shape has brown, shiny purple plumage. The wings and tail have a metallic sheen. It differs from the common sickler by a white area around its beak.
distribution
The ejaculated ibis breed in the western United States and a coastal strip along the coast of Texas and Louisiana; there are also individual breeding colonies in Florida. It is also found in Mexico , southeastern Brazil and Bolivia, and central Argentina and Chile . The greatest concentration of ejaculated ibis are found all year round on the shores of the Salton Sea .
The eyeglass safeguard is a partial puller. Birds in the northernmost part of the range migrate south along the Great Basin and the Colorado River valley. They winter in southern California, southwest Arizona, and the coast of Texas and Louisiana.
