Brilliant castle

The Briller Castle

The Briller Castle (address Nevigeser Straße 77 ) is a listed residential and commercial building in Wuppertal - Elberfeld .

The name does not refer to a castle that served a noble gentleman as a residence or seat of government, but to a building that was used as an inn and restaurant with a social hall around the turn of the century - postcards are evidence of this. This included a gondola pond behind the house. This pond, which was very likely fed by the Briller Bach , no longer exists. Today the area is built over.

The building was recognized as a monument on December 4, 1984 and entered in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.

Today the two-storey building is used by a hairdresser, a physiotherapist, a sport boat school and a boat center, among other things.

A bus stop with the same name in the neighborhood is evidence of the former excursion restaurant Briller Schloss.
