Brillig is an Australian band that has different musical influences.
history
The band was founded in 2000 by singer and guitarist Matt Swayne and named themselves after a term from the poem Jabberwocky from Lewis Carroll's book Alice Behind the Looking Glass . The band has been under contract with the German independent label Black Rain since 2007 . Since then, the debut EP The Plagiarist and two albums have been released there.
style
The band's first releases were located "somewhere between pop, rock and electronic". The band named David Bowie , Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds , Placebo , The Cure , Johnny Cash and the music of the 1980s as influences.
In the case of the purely acoustic album The Red Coats , which was released in 2009 , the critics emphasized rather folk influences. The band itself calls their style " Gothic Folk " today .
