Brinckheuvel nature reserve

The Brinckheuvel nature reserve is located in Suriname in the Brokopondo district , on the eastern central reaches of the Saramacca .

The reserve was founded in 1961 and covers an area of ​​around 6,000 hectares . It consists of a representative part of the Subgrauwacke ( Sabanpasi ) landscape, which extends between the central reaches of the Saramacca and Suriname . The landscape is characterized by low subgrauwacke hills, chains of conglomerates and hills, which mostly consist of humid and thorn bush savannas . Three hilltops, including Brinckheuvel , are covered with white sand.
