Brinklow Castle , also known as The Tump in its area , is a medieval abandoned castle in the village of Brinklow between Coventry and Rugby in the English county of Warwickshire .

history

The moat around the mound

Brinklow probably served first as prehistoric megalithic grave , hence the old English name part hlāw . Earl Alberic later had it remodeled. Alberic was the first Norman lord of Brinklow; he had left his earldom in Northumberland and lost his lands in England before the Domesday Book was written. But his lands and titles were not reassigned when the Domesday Book was written, so the extent of his lands is well documented.

Brinklow Castle is a large moth . The mound is 12 meters high and the castle wall originally included an area of 121 meters × 152 meters. Apparently the castle was changed later and a smaller area was separated by a wall and a moat in the middle of the castle. This suggests the slow decline of Brinklow Castle.
