Brionnais

The Brionnais is an area in the south of the French region of Burgundy . It is there in the southwest of the Saône-et-Loire department .

Some municipalities in Brionnais have the addition "en-Brionnais" in their place names: Colombier-en-Brionnais , Ligny-en-Brionnais , Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais , Saint-Didier-en-Brionnais , Saint-Germain-en- Brionnais , Saint-Laurent-en-Brionnais and Semur-en-Brionnais .

The name is said to derive from the Gallic tribe of the Brannoviken .
