Brit Shalom
Brit Shalom ( Hebrew ברית שלום; Arabic تحالف السلام Taḥāluf as-salām 'Peace League ') was a political association in Palestine , later in Israel . It was founded by a group of Central and Western European intellectuals who, from 1925, set themselves the task of promoting Jewish-Arab understanding. Their aim was to find a political scheme that would enable Jews and Arabs to live together fairly. The goal of Zionism , the creation of a free, culturally autonomous Jewish community developing its own way of life, should not be given up.
Co-founders were Gershom Scholem , Martin Buber , Arthur Ruppin , Hugo Bergmann , Hans Kohn , Ernst Simon , Felix Weltsch , Robert Weltsch , Yehoshua Radler-Feldman Ha-Talmi and Yaakov Yonathan Thon .
