The British Car Trophy (BCT) is a German racing series for English cars that has been organized since 2001.

overview

The BCT events are usually organized together with the ABARTH COPPA MILLE and the NSU Trophy as an association for the fight of the dwarfs on routes in Germany and neighboring countries. In 2013 the BCT starts in Hockenheim (2 ×), Spa-Francorchamps , at the Nürburgring (2 ×) and in Zolder . In recent years, the BCT has also started on the Goodyear circuit in Colmar-Berg (Luxembourg), Zandvoort (Netherlands), Assen (Netherlands) and the Osnabrück hill climb .

At the Oldtimer Festival for the Jan Wellem Cup of DAMC 05 , the BCT - together with its partner series - has been one of the absolute favorites of the public for years. The audience regularly followed the performance at the "Battle of the Dwarfs" with great excitement.

Regulations

The BCT motto is: "best fun racing". In this respect it is the aim of the organizers to offer the participants license-free and inexpensive motorsport. Only English vehicles with an A or A + engine are allowed to score the BCT; these can be touring cars, GTs or sports cars. Thus the engine block used can either be an A or A +. The regulations are therefore very much geared towards the Mini .

The vehicles are divided into two performance classes, Group 1 - near-series vehicles and Group 2 - improved vehicles .

The near-series vehicles of BCT Group 1

Close to series group until 2009

Only Mini (except Cooper S ) and Innocenti 850, 1001, Cooper 1300, Innocenti 90L, 120L, 120 Detomaso were approved for near-series vehicles . To reduce costs, the maximum output of a Group 1 vehicle was allowed to be 85 hp.

Close-to-series group from 2009 - today

The series-related group of the British Car Trophy was redefined in 2009. Based on the British Mighty Minis series, so-called SPI Mini with Single Point Injection, which were built between 1991 and 1996, are now starting in Group 1. With this near-series concept, the aim is to offer motorsport at comparatively manageable costs. Due to the strict regulations, all vehicles have a really comparable engine performance.

The improved vehicles of BCT group 2

In the area of improved vehicles, other British vehicles are also registered in addition to the Mini. Therefore start here u. a. also vehicles from GTM , Ginetta or Triumph . The entire regulations are very revealing and allow a lot of scope for individuality. The most powerful vehicles are around 145 hp and, in contrast to Group 1, are mostly pure-bred racing cars that can no longer be approved for road traffic.
