The Düsseldorfer Automobil- und Motorsport-Club 05 eV in the ADAC is a local club and founding association of the ADAC Nordrhein with its seat in Düsseldorf . The Düsseldorf Club is the ideal sponsor of the Nürburgring Classic and was the organizer of various major events at the Nürburgring , such as the Oldtimer Festival , the Eifel race and the Historic Trophy .

founding

The DAMC 05 is one of the oldest motor sports clubs in Germany. It was founded on November 10, 1905 as the Düsseldorf Motorcycle Club, which merged six months later with the also new Düsseldorf Motorcycle Association.

Even before the First World War, the club held motorsport events such as reliability drives. Later the biggest motorcycle track races took place in Düsseldorf. Especially the club members Ralph Roese , Jupp Müller and Itz Rosenbaum achieved several victories on German racetracks. Müller was two-time German champion in all categories. But motorcycle and automobile racing drivers Heinz Kürten , Alfred Noll, Toni Ulmen and Kurt C. Volkhart also achieved a level of awareness beyond the motorsport club.

After the First World War , the Eifel race and the “German Tourist Trophy” in Nideggen were the biggest events in which the club's drivers started.

Self-dissolution and a new beginning

In 1933, the club dissolved itself. But one year after the end of the war, the old members Hermann Schlessmann, Toni Ulmen, Josef Jacobs , Werner Seidel, Jules Köther , Erich Hebmüller, Itz Rosenbaum and Heinz Müller founded the new club under the name Düsseldorfer Automobil- und Motorsport-Club 05 ( ADAC). In the following year the Cologne Club for Motorsport, the Bergische Motorclub and the DAMC 05 jointly founded the ADAC Nordrhein.

In 1970 a generation change became apparent in DAMC 05, the "young members" organized the first ONS events, which began with an automobile slalom in April 1970 in the parking lot of the Rheinstadion. After several slalom events in the following years, the first hill climb on the south loop of the Nürburgring was organized on September 5, 1976 together with PSV Düsseldorf and MSC Jan Wellem . In 1977, the DAMC 05 organized the first Jan Wellem Bergpreis am Ring under sole responsibility. In 1978 the first Jan Wellem Cup was held.

During the new construction of the Grand Prix track, the first vintage car festival took place on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring in 1983 , at which not only cars, but also motorcycles and sidecar teams started. The event has been taking place on the new Grand Prix track since 1984 and has meanwhile been held over three days with around 800 participants from 14 nations.

The club was organizationally successful not only on the Nürburgring, but also on the road. On the occasion of the Federal Garden Show in Düsseldorf, the BUGA rally took place in 1987 with historic vehicles from Düsseldorf to the Oldtimer Festival. In 1988, the anniversary classic car rally was held to mark the 700th anniversary of Düsseldorf.

In 2010 DAMC 05 organized the 27th International Oldtimer Festival for the Jan Wellem Cup on the Nürburgring, with historic automobiles, motorcycles and sidecars.

At the beginning of 2011 the DAMC 05 took over the organization of the ADAC Eifel race and brought both event concepts together. In the ADAC Eifel race for the Jan Wellem Cup , automobiles, motorcycles and sidecars competed in the Eifel race for the first time since the 1970s. In the case of automobiles, the struggle of the dwarves was one of the crowd's favorites for motorcycles.

After the usage rights for the ADAC Eifelrennen title expired in 2014 , the DAMC 05 renamed the event the Historic Trophy Nürburgring .

June 2017, the DAMC 05 hosted the Nürburgring Classic anniversary event for the 90th anniversary of the Nürburgring .

Foundation of DAMC 05 Veranstaltungs-GmbH

In November 2017, the members of DAMC 05 decided that the organization of the Nürburgring Classic would be spun off into DAMC 05 Veranstaltungs-GmbH and that the association would take on the role of the ideal sponsor .

In autumn 2018, DAMC 05 founded an eSport division in order to create an additional entry point to classic, real motorsport. The association focuses on the involvement of members in real motorsport and a local community as opposed to virtual SimRacing teams.

The Düsseldorf club has been part of the ADAC Digital Cup since the 2019 summer season .
