The British Fashion Council (BFC) is a not-for-profit organization headquartered in London that was founded in 1983 to promote British fashion designs . The current boss is Caroline Rush.

British Fashion Awards

During the British Fashion Awards, the BFC honors the people who have achieved outstanding achievements in the fashion industry in the previous year. The awards cover all areas of the fashion industry, such as the British Accessory Designer of the Year . The king category, however, is the Designer of the Year award , which has already received personalities such as Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney . Sponsors such as Canon , American Express and Vodafone support the BFC in organizing the awards.

London Fashion Week

With the help of various sponsors, the BFC organized the London Fashion Week for the first time in 1984 and since then has managed to make the event, which takes place twice a year, one of the Big Four , the world's most important fashion shows , alongside the shows in Paris, New York and Milan . With a live digital broadcast of the shows, the BFC has created a program that can be seen by fashion enthusiasts from all over the world.

Promotion of fashion universities and young designers

The BFC works to improve teaching at British fashion universities and tries to bring industry and universities closer together in order to create teaching with an economic relevance. The BFC also offers competitions and scholarships for students. The Fashion Fund is also awarded once a year, a grant to a young designer worth £ 200,000. Companies such as Burberry , Topshop and Vogue magazine subsidize this campaign .
