The Brodosplit shipyard is one of the largest shipyards in Croatia and is located near Split . The name is derived as a portmanteau on the Croatian original company name Brodogradilište Split , who on German means "Shipbuilding shipyard Split".

history

Today's company was founded in 1922 and has existed at its current location since the shipyards were merged in 1932. With significant growth, especially in the second half of the 20th century, it became one of the largest shipyards in Croatia.

Brodosplit is a joint stock company with the Croatian government as the main shareholder. In 2010 it employed nearly 4,000 people.

Ships built

Brodosplit can build ships with a length of 280 meters and a tonnage of 166,000 GT in one piece. It has currently delivered 350 ships with a total tonnage of over 9 million GT, including a number of tankers in both the Panamax and non-Panamax classes and passenger ships .

Two combinations of oil tanker and RoRo ship built for Greek customers were an innovation . These can transport the oil products from the mainland to the Greek islands and at the same time also the tank trucks , which take over the further delivery in the interior of the island.

Piana under construction

Hull number 468 is the RoPax ship Piana, which was delivered to the French customer in 2011, with space for 750 passengers and 2,500 lane meters for vehicles. With construction costs of over 150 million US dollars, the Piana was the most expensive ship the shipyard had built to date when it was handed over. It is the flagship of the Compagnie Méridionale de Navigation and is used in night traffic between Marseille and Bastia in Corsica.
