The Brodtberg is with a height of 378.86 m above sea level. NN the highest mountain in Remscheid and in the administrative district of Düsseldorf . Nevertheless, it is not a large elevation, the neighboring district of Lennep is up to 370 meters above sea level.
geography
The mountain is located in the Hohenhagen district and belongs to the Remscheid-Süd district . The Brodtberg is located west of the Westerholt mountain, the second highest mountain in Remscheid.
landscape
There is mainly a forest and meadow landscape on the mountain. The remaining part is the residential area Hohenhagen and Fichtenhöhe.
There is also a nature reserve on the Brodtberg, right next to the Remscheid municipal utility . The quarry area offers habitats for many different animal species.
Many hiking and biking trails offer visitors a relaxing stay with a view of the Bergisches Land.
Attractions
- At the highest point is the Remscheid television tower (see Hohenhagen ).
- The Hofschaft Diepmannsbach lies at the foot of the mountain. Here is the Jagdschlösschen , a restaurant with a star golf course and leisure activities (including riding) for children.
- The Diepmannsbach motorway bridge, built in 1955, leads directly over the Brodtberg and the Westerholt mountains.
- During the winter months, the only ski lift in Remscheid and the surrounding area was operated on the Brodtberg for a long time. Many tobogganists also use the mountain's meadows for winter sports.
