Brooks Sports, Inc is a US manufacturer of running shoes and running clothes, based in Seattle .

History company

In 1914 it was founded in Philadelphia. In 1957 Brooks became Brooks Shoe Manufacturing Company, Inc. In 1982, Wolverine World Wide took over the company. The Norwegian investor The Rokke Group bought Brooks in 1993. The company then moved its headquarters to Seattle in the same year and changed its name to Brooks Sports, Inc. has to offer. In 1994, former Nike director Helen Rockey became president. Starting in 1997, seasonal running clothing lines are also included in the range every six months. In 1999, Bruce Pettet became the new CEO after Rockey's departure. Jim Webber has been CEO of Brooks Sports since 2001. After the sale of Russell Corporation in 2006, Brooks Sports became a subsidiary of private equity firm Berkshire Hathaway .

The wholly-owned subsidiary Brooks Sports GmbH, based in Münster , has existed since the 1990s . From there, 20 countries in the EMEA region are supplied with products.

Technological milestones (chronological)

In 1930 the development of the Natural Bend Arch Support began. Brooks developed Pedicraft children's shoes in 1938 that met orthopedic requirements. Brooks took 1975 as the first company midsoles made of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), today its use is common in the industry. Running shoes that address the issue of overpronation have been around since 1977. In 1981 Brooks running clothes were launched. 1982 saw the introduction of the Chariot, which is equipped with Brooks' Diagonal Rollbar (DRB) technology. In 1987 the Brooks for Women shoe collection followed - anatomical shoes for women. In 1989 HydroFlow, a cushioning technology for shoes, was introduced. 1991 Brooks received the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance for HydroFlow . 1992 saw the introduction of the Beast - a motion control running shoe. In 1994 the Brooks Adrenaline GTS support model was introduced. In 1995 the outsole / midsole technology Podular Technology was introduced. In 2001 Brooks made a strategic decision to focus solely on running gear. 2004 was the introduction of the e-Fusion technology , which is used in all Brooks premium running shoes. 2006 saw the introduction of MoGo, a Brooks midsole technology. In 2008 Brooks was the first company to introduce BioMoGo, a biodegradable midsole. In 2010, Brooks launched the Green Silence, the first shoe to be made from 75 percent recyclable materials. In 2010 Brooks introduced the adaptive damping system DNA. DNA dynamically adapts to the needs of the runner.

Sponsorship activities

Equipment of the Chilean national football team

As part of the marketing strategy, a new jersey was designed for the Chilean national soccer team . The national team first appeared in the jersey of the jersey sponsor Brooks for the 2010 World Cup . Due to the relationship that Brooks Sports has with the Chilean Football Association, it not only equips the national teams in this country, but also referees and provides official football for national competitions.
