The Brothers Water is a lake in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The lake, which over time was also known as Brotherwater and Broad Water , has been known as Brothers Water since the 19th century, because it is said that two brothers drowned while swimming in the lake. The Kirkstone Beck is the lake's only tributary. At the outflow of the lake, when you meet the Pasture Beck, the Goldrill Beck is created .
The lake has been a Site of Special Scientific Interest since 1986. The lake is important because of its ground cover aquatic plants and the aquatic animals that live in it. The lake is also a breeding area for a large number of birds.
