Brown Island is a small, brown and almost snow-free island in the Wilhelm Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the southeastern part of the group of Wauwermans Islands , it is 3 km southwest of Wednesday Island .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill, mapped and named them. It is named after its brownish color, which sets it apart from the neighboring snow-covered islands.
