Browne Island is a small uninhabited island off the west coast of the West Coast region of the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The approximately 73 m long and 47 m wide island is located around 70 km northeast of Haast and around 570 m northwest of the confluence of the Spoon River in the Tasman Sea . The island consisting of a conical rock, which has a tip with an obtuse angle, is administratively part of the Westland District .
Flora and fauna
The island has poor vegetation and is inhabited by a colony of around 20 New Zealand fur seals.
