Bruce Kogut

Bruce Mitchel Kogut is an American sociologist , economist, and university professor .

Life

From 1971 Kogut studied at the University of California, Berkeley , and received his Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1975 with honors. He then moved to Columbia University , which he left in 1978 as a Master of International Affairs . He graduated from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Ph.D. A short time later he moved to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania , where he rose to full professor after working as an assistant professor and associate professor . From 1994, he also held the post of Deputy Director of the Reginald H. Jones Center for Management Policy, Strategy, and Organization at the university. In 2003 he accepted a call from the Institut européen d'administration des affaires , where he took over the Eli Lilly Chair for Innovation, Economy and Society . In 2007 he returned to the United States and accepted the Sanford Bernstein Professorship at Columbia University.

Kogut's research encompasses aspects of economic sociology , social entrepreneurship and governance , with one focus being on the international comparison of the observed phenomena. In various publications he also went into the influences of the global economy and technological developments on economic life. In his lectures as part of the MBA courses , he also conveys the influence of these questions on corporate strategy.
