Bruce Gardner
Bruce Lynn Gardner (born August 31, 1942 in Solon Mills , McHenry County , Illinois , † March 14, 2008 in Baltimore ) was an American agricultural economist . He was a long-time professor at the University of Maryland .
Life
Gardner grew up on a dairy farm in Solon Mills. He studied agricultural economics at the University of Illinois ( Bachelor , 1964) and received a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago . He was a professor at North Carolina State University (1968-1975), Texas A&M University (1977-1980), and the University of Maryland (1981-2008). He also worked for the government as an economist: 1975–1977 in the Council of Economic Advisers and 1989–1992 at the USDA .
In February 2008 he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma , which he suffered on March 14th. passed away. He left behind his wife and two children.
