Bruce Simpson

Bruce Simpson (born March 6, 1950 in Toronto ) is a retired Canadian pole vaulter .

In 1970 he finished fifth at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh , and in 1971 he won bronze at the Pan American Games in Cali .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he came in fifth.

In 1975 he won silver at the Universiade and at the Pan American Games in Mexico City . The following year he reached the final at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, in which he remained without a valid attempt.

In 1977 he finished seventh at the Athletics World Cup in Düsseldorf , and in 1978 he won the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton . In 1979, a victory at the Pan American Games in San Juan was followed by fourth place at the World Athletics Cup in Montreal .

With a fourth place at the Commonwealth Games 1982 in Brisbane, he ended his international career.

He was Canadian champion seven times (1970–1972, 1975, 1980–1982). He set his personal best of 5.38 m on February 13, 1976 in Toronto .
