The Brugda ( Norwegian for basking shark ) is a mountain ridge in Queen Maud Land, East Antarctica . In Gjelsvikfjella , it extends on the southern flank of the Mayr range in an east-southeast direction.
The first aerial photos of the formation were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named the ridge, carried out a mapping using aerial photographs and surveys of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
