Brugseni is the brand name of Kalaallit Nunaanni Brugseni AmbA (KNB). The company is a supermarket chain in Greenland .

history

Brugseni was founded in 1991 as an offshoot of the Danish chain Brugsen by Kalaallit Nunaanni Brugseni AmbA (KNB) , after several Brugsen branches had already been opened in Greenland cities in 1963. Brugsen itself was founded in Denmark in 1961 by Fællesforeningen for Danmarks Brugsforeninger AmbA (FDB) , but has not had any branches under this name since 1995. These will be continued by the Coop Danmark chain , which also belongs to Coop AmbA , as the FDB is now called, as SuperBrugsen , Dagli'Brugsen and LokalBrugsen . Today Brugseni is one of the three most important supermarket chains in Greenland, alongside Pisiffik and Pilersuisoq .

Markets

Brugseni has five branches in Nuuk , three in Sisimiut , two each in Maniitsoq and Qaqortoq and one each in Ilulissat , Nanortalik , Narsaq and Paamiut . Brugseni thus covers around 32,500 people in Greenland, which corresponds to around 58 percent of the population.
