history

The Brujas de Tlaquepaque (German Witches of Tlaquepaque ) celebrated their greatest success so far in the 2010 Clausura when they reached the finals of the Mexican women's football championship. The opponents in the final were the Leonas Negras from the neighboring city of Guadalajara.

On the way to the final, the Brujas prevailed in the quarter-finals (3: 0 and 1: 2) against Celeste Naucalpan , who had reached the finals in the previous Apertura 2009 and also advanced to the finals in the three upcoming tournaments, whereby they won both championship titles in the 2010/11 season. In the semifinals, the Brujas beat the three-time champion Reinas del SUEUM de Morelia , who later won his fourth title at Apertura 2011, with an overall result of 5: 2 (first leg 1: 1, second leg 4: 1).

Because the Brujas were much more successful in the play-offs away than on their own territory, no decision had been made after the final first leg against Leonas Negras (1: 1). But in the Estadio Jalisco of Guadalajara, which was oversized for a women's soccer final, the Brujas lost 2-1 in the second leg and had to be content with the role of runner-up.
