Bruno Jost

Bruno Jost (* 1949 ) is a German lawyer .

Life

After completing his studies, Jost began his professional career in 1975 at the Flensburg public prosecutor's office . In 1978 he switched to the judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg as a public prosecutor in Stuttgart. In 1983 he was seconded to the Federal Prosecutor's Office and the prosecutor as a group leader appointed . In 1986 he was seconded to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Justice . After his promotion to senior public prosecutor , he was responsible for drug and juvenile criminal matters at the Heilbronn public prosecutor's office from 1989 . From 1991 to 1992 he was acting head of the authorities at the Leipzig Public Prosecutor's Office for a few months .

In 1992, Jost was appointed senior public prosecutor at the Federal Court of Justice. In the department for criminal matters against the internal security of the Federal Republic of Germany, he led the investigation into the Mykonos attack . Because of his indictment, the main perpetrators were sentenced to life imprisonment.

In 1997, Jost moved to the External Security Department, where he was appointed Head of Unit in April 2000 and Federal Prosecutor at the Federal Court of Justice in December 2000. From April 2001 to January 2002 he was also responsible for fundamental questions of judicial cooperation in the European Union. From October 2003 to June 2007 he was the federal prosecutor's security officer .

From December 2003 Jost was also deputy head of department for espionage, treason and the international criminal code . In 2009, he took early retirement ( partial retirement ).

The Berlin state government commissioned him in April 2017 to write a special report on the investigation mishaps in the Anis Amri case , which contributed to the attack on the Berlin Christmas market .

Private

Jost is married and has three children. He lives in Vaihingen an der Enz .
