Bruno Pelletier (born August 7, 1962 in Charlesbourg ) is a Canadian author, composer, musician and actor.

Childhood and personal life

Bruno Pelletier was born in 1962 and has Italian-Canadian and Quebecoise roots. Today he lives in his second marriage with the dancer Mélanie Bergeron.

Beginnings

Bruno Pelletier had his first beginnings in the 80s. As a drummer, but also as a singer, he performed with the groups Amanite and Sneak Preview in the Montreal bar scene.

In 1989 he founded the French-speaking rock band Pëll , took part in competitions and tried to make himself known through the professional music scene.

In 1990 the record company Les Disques Artiste , chaired by Paul Lévesque , offered him a contract for the first time.

Career

In 1992 Pelletier's first album of the same name, Bruno Pelletier, was released . In the same year he was offered a role in the musical Les fous du rock'n'roll and in the Canadian version of the l'opéra-rock La légende de Jimmy by Luc Plamondon and Michel Berger .

In 1993, Luc Plamondon offered him the role of Johnny Rockford in the Paris version of Starmania . He played the character more than 400 times over a period of two years and used his spare time to work on his second album.

In 1995 the singer released his second album, but it was unsuccessful until 1997. In the same year he played a crook in the TV series Omerta II and released his third album Miserere . It quickly topped the charts with over 250,000 copies sold. The following year, Bruno Pelletier received a Felix in the “Best Male Artist of the Year” category at the ADISQ gala and Miserere was awarded three Felix for Album of the Year in the Pop-Rock Category , Album of the Year in the Category Best Selling and Show des Awarded in the artist category of the year.

From 1998–1999 Bruno Pelletier interpreted the poet Gringoire in the musical Notre-Dame de Paris by Luc Plamondon and Riccardo Cocciante . The title Le temps des cathédrales reached the top of the charts and made it known in the Francophonie.

Pelletier's fourth album D'autres rives was released in 1999 , which was followed by an extensive tour that allowed him to appear on several renowned European stages, such as B. Olympia de Paris , La Cigale and Le Bataclan. In addition to expanding his solo career, he played the role of gringoire in the Canadian and London versions of Notre-Dame de Paris .

In 2001 the singer released a live album that was created during his tour of D'autres rives .

In August 2002 Un monde à l'envers was released and Bruno Pelletier began a two-year tour. In December of the same year he gave a series of concerts with the Orchester Symphonique de Montreal in the Basilica Notre-Dame and recorded the album Concert de Noël under the theme of the great Christmas classics .

In 2004 Bruno Pelletier was offered the lead role in the musical Dracula -Entre l'amour et la mort by Roger Tabra and Simon Leclerc, in which he also worked as co-producer and artistic director. On January 31, 2006, the play, which has seen more than 115,000 viewers, premiered in Montreal.

In 2007, after Dracula Pelletier's ninth album, Bruno Pelletier et les GrosZorchestre was released . It was awarded the Felix in the category best album of the year / jazz interpretation .

In 2009 Bruno Pelletier released his tenth album Microphonium .

2010-2011 the singer interpreted in l'opéra-folk Les Filles de Caleb by Michel Rivard, based on the novels of the same name by Arlette Cousture, alongside Luce Dufault, Daniel Boucher and Stéphanie Lapointe the priest Napoleon Frigon.

In 2012 he released his eleventh album, Rendus-là , followed by a tour, this time beyond the borders of Canada. At the end of 2013 he took part in the concert Les plus grands Chansons des Notre Dame de Paris .

In autumn 2014 the album Musique et Cinema was released in collaboration with Guy Saint-Onge .
