Bruno Petzold (* 1873 ; † 1949 ) was a German journalist and writer on Buddhist topics.

Petzold went to China , where he worked as a correspondent for the German-language daily newspaper for North China . In 1910 he went to Japan , where he worked as a foreign reporter for the Kölnische Zeitung . Strongly enthusiastic about the Buddhism of the Tendai-shū , he converted to this Buddhist school and became a priest.

He presented an extensive work on many aspects of Buddhist philosophy , much of which was published only after his death. His estate is kept in the National Library of Australia .
