At the age of 18, Bruno Rudolph was accepted into the squad of the East Berlin city league team Motor Weißensee for the first time in the 1957 season (calendar year season) . There he was used as a striker and already attracted attention as a sure goal scorer. He also demonstrated his talent in the following two seasons, when he developed into one of the most successful goal scorers in the city league. This also earned him multiple appointments in East Berlin selection games. At the beginning of the 1960 season, Rudolph moved to the Betriebssportgemeinschaft (BSG) Tiefbau Berlin , which had been promoted to the third-class II. GDR league . He also proved to be an accurate shooter at the higher football level.

From the 1961/62 season (return to the summer-spring game rhythm) Rudolph played for the third division club SG Lichtenberg 47 . Used as a left winger, he drew attention again as a goal scorer in his first season in Lichtenberg. In the point game against Chemie Grünau-Schmöckwitz alone , he contributed four goals in the 7-0 win. After another season in the II. GDR League, Lichtenberg 47 played from 1963/64 in the East Berlin City League, which was third-rate after the II. League was closed. At the end of the season Rudolph was city champion with the Lichtenberg team , but they failed in the promotion games to the GDR league . 1966 Lichtenberg 47 took part again in the GDR league promotion games. Rudolph was used in all four games, and although he remained goalless, the team made promotion. In his first GDR league season he was used 27 times in the 30 league games and, as the top scorer with 14 goals, ensured that his team managed to stay up. In 1967/68 Rudolph was again a regular player in the 47ers with 26 league appearances as a striker, but only scored three goals.

After his second GDR league season, Rudolph returned to the former city league, now the Berlin district league, for the 1968/69 season. After he had already worked as a coach for the 2nd team of Lichtenberg 47, Rudolph has now become a player-coach for the BSG Rotation Berlin. As a 34-year-old in 1973, he still managed the feat of scoring all the goals of his team in a friendly match against fifth-rate TSG Schöneiche in a 6-1 win. In the summer of 1973 Bruno Rudolf ended his football career for professional reasons.
