Life

Bruno was the brother of Conrad I , Lord of Württemberg. He had a name that was used several times for future clerics in the family of the Ottonian and Salic rulers. Bruno first became a canon at Speyer Cathedral. At the beginning of the 1080s he turned to the Hirsau Monastery as a benefactor and became a monk there. In 1105 the convent elected him abbot against Gebhard von Urach . In addition to Gottfried von Calw, he was a pillar of Heinrich V in the uprising against Emperor Heinrich IV. And he wanted to unite the Hirsauer Abbatiat with the offices of Bishop of Speyer and Abbot of Lorsch. However, the convention wanted to remain independent and chose Bruno in order to gain the support of Conrad I of Württemberg. However, Bruno finally had to come to terms with Vogt Gottfried von Calw - at least after the death of his brother. He died on March 23, 1120 and was buried in Hirsau.
