Bruno von Haigerloch-Wiesneck

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bruno von Haigerloch-Wiesneck († May 5th between 1126 and 1129 ) was provost of Strasbourg and founder of the Sankt Märgen monastery in the Black Forest. Even in the Middle Ages and in older literature, he was often incorrectly called Bruno von Hohenberg because the Hohenbergers inherited the Haigerloch house, which died out in 1134. The identification with the Strasbourg bishop Bruno, who was in office from 1129–1131, is also incorrect.

Live and act

Bruno was probably the brother of Count Adalbert von Haigerloch-Wiesneck. In Strasbourg he was provost of the cathedral . From 1112 to 1122 he was also Chancellor of Emperor Heinrich V. Around 1118 he founded the Augustinian Canons Abbey of Sankt Märgen in the Black Forest.
