The chest band kingfisher ( Alcedo euryzona ) is a kingfisher species in Southeast Asia.
features
The 17 cm long chest band kingfisher is slightly larger than the kingfisher Alcedo atthis, which also occurs in Europe . The males wear the eponymous blue chest band and a black beak. In the female, the lower beak is reddish. Features of the kingfisher also include: a white throat; The head and upper sides of the wings are dark blue, the chest, belly and undersides of the wings are white or light orange.
Occurrence
The chest band kingfisher is found in the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. Two subspecies are known: The range of A. e. euryzona Temminck , 1830 is limited to the island of Java , while A. e. peninsulae Laubmann , found in 1941 in Myanmar , on the Malay Peninsula , on Sumatra and Borneo .
Behavior and food
The chest band kingfisher is a hide hunter . It feeds on small fish, crustaceans, insects and small reptiles.
