The Bryde Rocks are a small group of rocky islands off the western end of South Georgia . They are located 1.5 km west-southwest of the southern end of Main Island in the group of Willis Islands .
The South Georgia Survey mapped it during its 1951-1957 survey campaign. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1958 after the Norwegian Thorleif Bryde (1909-1964), from 1952 for several years harpooner of the South Georgia Whaling Company at the Leith Harbor whaling station .
