Bube, Dame, Hörig was a daily game show on Sat.1 . It was broadcast in the morning program from 1996 to 1999 and was an adaptation of the US game show Card Sharks . The name of the program refers on the one hand to playing cards, which were an integral part of the show, and on the other hand to the presenter Elmar Hörig .

There were two assistants: first “Mio” accompanied through the show, in later episodes Barbara Schöneberger . Her job was to turn cards on the game wall.

Game flow

In this program, two pairs of candidates played against each other. The course of the game consisted of two processes. First of all, a survey result had to be assessed in order to be allowed to continue playing. For example, you should guess what percentage of Germans would like to spend their next vacation in the Caribbean. One pair of candidates guessed a percentage, the second team had to guess whether the actual result was higher or lower. The result determined which pair of candidates was allowed to start first in the following game on the wall of cards.

Now the game was continued on a wall of cards in which five cards lay face down in two rows. One row was intended for a pair of candidates. The first card was revealed and could be exchanged for a new card. The couple now had to guess whether the card value of the next card is higher or lower than the value of the previous one. It did happen that a card was followed by another card of the same value. In this case, both assessments of “higher” and “lower” were rated as incorrect. If they were right, they were allowed to continue playing. If they were wrong, the game was stopped and the second pair of candidates played with their own row of cards according to the same principle, but were no longer allowed to exchange the first card. After the game a new poll was asked.

The row of cards of a candidate pair could not be played through in one round, as it was stopped before the last card at the latest. If a pair continued on the last card, this could also be exchanged for a new card. If the value of the last card was correctly assessed, one point was awarded. The pair that got two points first played in the final.

final

On the wall of cards for the finale there were three rows, three of which were face down on the bottom two rows and one face down on the top row. Here, too, the pair of candidates received a base card that they were allowed to exchange for a new one. In addition to assessing whether the card value of the following card is higher or lower, the couple also had to bet an amount of money on each card, which they would receive if they answered correctly or were deducted from their account if they answered incorrectly. The couple received 150 DM as a starting point. If a question was answered correctly, this amount could be increased to 200 DM. At least 50 DM had to be wagered per card.

If the pair reached the end of the bottom row, the card was used as the exit card for the middle row. In addition, the couple received another 200 DM into the account. This exit card could also be exchanged, the rest of the process up to the end of the row was identical to the bottom row.

If enough money (4,000 DM) was earned, the final card could be played, in which one could win a car. For this it was necessary that the account balance on the last card in the bottom row was at least 300 DM so that a credit of 4,000 DM could be built up by the end of the middle row of cards. The last card in the middle row was used as a playing card for the remaining face-down final card in the top row and could no longer be exchanged. The car was won if the last assessment of the pair of candidates was correct. If the car was not won on the first attempt, the pair of candidates were allowed to compete two more times.

The maximum possible win was 14,400 DM if the pair of candidates answered the initial question correctly and therefore started the final with 200 DM and assessed all card values correctly by using the entire account balance.
