Game Show Marathon is a nine-part program on ProSieben , in which game show classics were reissued. The format was originally developed for ITV in Great Britain , where the show has been running since 2005. An offshoot of the show has also been running at CBS in the USA since 2006 .

Six prominent participants tried their best in a tournament at the game show marathon to win prizes that viewers could win with a phone call. In the last two episodes, “real” candidates competed against each other.

Oliver Pocher and Oliver Petszokat conducted the program . It was part of the concept that the two moderators teased each other in (probably planned) situations. In order to increase the entertainment value, numerous running gags were built into each program.

Style of play

The six prominent participants re-enact the concept of a previously successful game show in each episode. The four winners of the preliminary rounds move on to the semi-finals, from which the two winners then face each other in the final. The game show champion is then awarded a trophy.

Contributors

The six prominent participants were Sonya Kraus , Hennes Bender , Hella von Sinnen , Detlef “D!” Soost , Gülcan and Kai Böcking . In addition, were Harry Wijnvoord , Joerg Draeger , Jochen Bendel and Elmar Nationals at "their" game shows with a brief appearance on the pitch. Cindy from Marzahn was allowed to try her hand at the letter fairy on the wheel of fortune . Since Sonya Kraus was already the "letter fairy" in the original and didn't feel like it (which was incorporated into the show as a gag), Cindy was finally taken for this job.

Odds

The program's quotas were far below expectations. Only 2.03 million viewers saw the first episode, corresponding to a disappointing 5.7 percent market share. With 1.92 million viewers and 5.6 percent you had to report a loss the following week. When Hopp or Top was played, there were only 1.71 million viewers (5.1 percent market share). In the same week, however , ProSieben announced that the show would be extended by two episodes. Then "normal" candidates should compete against each other. The celebrities of the fourth episode, however, only saw a small increase to 1.79 million viewers.
